Focus on your Purpose
Focus on your Purpose: The Lord have been speaking to me about personal success in my career, I know that He wants me to have dominion and become successful in this industry. He lead me to the book of:
Obadiah 1:15-18. 15“For the day of the Lord upon all the nations is near; As you have done, it shall be done to you; Your reprisal shall return upon your own head. 16 For as you drank on My holy mountain, So shall all the nations drink continually; Yes, they shall drink, and swallow, And they shall be as though they had never been. 17 “But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau,” For the Lord has spoken.
These verses told me that climbing up and reaching the top of the mountain is inevitable, whether we like it or not, we will get there! In verses 16 and 17 it shows that a person can have two types of decisions once he/her has reached that mountain top. The first response was about focusing on your self pleasure or worldliness, and second included a response of faith and holiness. Now the Lord reminded me that we always need to focus on His purpose especially when you reach that mountain top because the consequences of not having the right focus can lead to our destruction, while obey leads to life, salvation and possession. If we want the great things in life, we must be focused on our purpose.
Focus on your Purpose
Now if you find yourself in the situation where things are falling apart, the Lord might be working and repairing somethings with you. I found this true especially for me as I was trying to seek promotion in career and Lord gave me this verse:
Micah 1:6-7, where the Lord is trying to ‘uncover my foundation’. The reason any builder would want to uncover the foundation of a building is because something requires to be fixed or there might be an issue in the structural integrity of the building. I.e. there might cracks that requires repair, misalignment of loads due to ground movement and other issues that requires immediate attention before it can be build higher. When aspiring to increase, to add on or take new territories we have to ensure that our attitude is in check and focus of this increase is aligned with God’s purposes for us. In verse 7, God was demolishing items (or characteristics) in this structure that was not holy i.e. carved images, unholy works, and idols.
Focus on your Purpose – For me this message struck a cord because I was after the increase in my career but I wasn’t putting any effort in trying my best to up-skill or do my current tasks with excellence. My focus wasn’t in the right places and once I have dealt with this issue by resolving in my mind that I’m ready to work zealously to advance God’s kingdom. My prayer was answered immediately, my manager has placed me in a position for growth and advancement in my current work project.
Finally Brethren let us remember 2 Tim 2:15 and 2 Peter 1:10, let us hasten ourselves to be an approved worker and diligent to make our call and election sure because God promises us that we will never stumble.
Great article Charmaine, I really admire how you have embraced the message of the Kingdom and are being used for His purpose.
Testimony is so much more powerful when coupled with a change of heart.
